Dort betreiben er und seine Frau Sabine Khalil leidenschaftlich gleich mehrere Bio zertifizierte Kaffeefarmen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das soziale Engagement der beiden in die örtliche Gemeinschaft, wo sie 2019 einen Kindergarten in La Corneta gebaut haben. Nach der Ernte werden diese als \"Honey\" aufbereitet. Dabei wird die Mucilage vor dem trocknen nicht entfernt. Die Familie Andrade hat sich seit über 120 Jahren dem Kaffeeanbau verschrieben, ist Gründungsmitglied der Brazil Specialty Coffee Association und gewinnt regelmäßig Auszeichnungen für ihre ausgezeichneten Kaffees. 

Die klimatischen Bedingungen der Region - wo eine optimale Balance zwischen Trocken- und Regenzeit vorherrscht - sowie die vulkanische Erde, bieten beste Voraussetzungen für das Wachstum der Kaffeepflanzen.

Nach der Erntezeit (Mai - August) werden die Kaffeekirschen landestypisch als  "pulped natural" aufbereitet. Dabei trocknen die Bohnen nach dem Entfernen des Fruchtfleischs rund eine Woche in der Sonne. Im Vergleich zur Aufbereitung als "natural" entsteht dadurch eine weichere Säure sowie ein akzentuierterer Körper.

Dieser direkt gehandelte Rote & Gelbe Catuai (Arabica) der beiden Farmen Capim Branco & Sao Silvestre besticht durch herkunftstypische Noten von Nuss und Schokolade, einem cremigen Körper und einer subtilen Säure von exotischen Früchten. Als besonders vielseitiger Kaffee kann dieser sowohl als Espresso oder Filterkaffee zubereitet werden.

Kenia - Komothai AA Microlot / Filterkaffee
Dieser herausragende Lot stammt von rund 30 Kleinbauern aus Komothai, in der Region Kiambu. Jeder Kleinbauer ist selbst für die Ernte und das Processing verantwortlich. Die Gemeinschaft der Kleinstproduzenten hat sich zur regionalen "Ngewa-Komothai Farmers Coop" zusammen geschlossen. Dadurch erreichen sie die kritische Mindestgröße, um ihre Microlots auf der Kahawa Bora Dry Mill sortenrein für den Export aufzubereiten. Dadurch erzielen ihre exzellenten Kaffees einen weit höheren, der Qualität angemessenen Preis. 


Die Region Ngewa-Komothai an den Ausläufen des Gatamaiyo Forest Reserve ist neben Kaffee besonders für Tee und Milchprodukte bekannt. Deshalb verzichten die meisten Kaffeefarmer auf agrochemische Dünger und greifen auf organischen Kuhdung zurück. 

Die nasse Aufbereitung (washed) nach der Ernte erfolgt nach traditionellen Methoden in Kenia. Die Kaffeekirschen schwimmen zunächst in einem Becken um unreife Kirschen und Defekte auszusortieren. Nach dem Pulpen fermentiert der Kaffee rund 24 Stunden, anschließend werden die Bohnen im Parchment gewaschen und auf afrikanischen Betten getrocknet. Je nach Wetterlage trocknet der Parchment dann rund 14 Tage.
Der trockene Parchment wird dann nach Thika zur Kahawa Bora Dry Mill gebracht, wo die erste Qualitätskontrolle statt findet. Im Zuge dessen wird der Lot in Qualitätsstufen unterteilt und für den Export vorbereitet. Wir haben uns die höchste AA für euch gesichert!
